Renewing .uk domains and hosting services

We will automatically renew .uk domains on your behalf, unless:

you specifically cancel the renewal
or we do not have a valid payment method on your account

Important: We aim to automate the renewal process. However, you remain responsible for ensuring your domains are renewed.

UK domain renewal process

Step 1: 60 days before the domain's renewal date, we will write to you to inform you that we plan to renew the domain name in 53 days. The letter you receive will offer you the opportunity to cancel the renewal and provide us with up to date credit/debit card details.

Step 2: If we do not hold up to date credit/debit card details we will email you 30 days before the renewal date to remind you that we plan to renew the domain in 23 days. Again, the email you receive will offer you the opportunity to cancel the renewal.

Step 3: If you do not specifically cancel the renewal, your account will be charged 7 days before the renewal date. This cannot be reversed. If you do not wish to renew the domain, ensure that you cancel the renewal beforehand.

If you mistakenly cancel the renewal, please contact us by email.

If you choose not to renew the domain:
Step 1: Nominet - the organisation that manages UK domains - will invoice you by email and post for £80 + VAT. Only pay this invoice if you now want to renew the domain. This offer will remain open for 60 days.

Step 2: 30 days after the renewal date, Nominet will suspend the domain. Six to eight weeks later, the domain will be fully deleted from the registry, enabling anyone to re-register it on a first-come, first-served basis.

Important: Your credit/debit card and domain Administration Contact details must be kept up to date to ensure the smooth renewal of your domains.
